Each season, we award to players’ rankings according to outstanding performances during the season. Using this system, here’s how the Batters and Pitchers of the New York Yankees placed:

In the list of the Top Yankees players on Baseballreference.com for 2025, (compiled by WAR alone), Jazz Chisholm Jr, Clarke Schmidt, Anthony Volpe and Jose Caballero are ranked in the top 12 Yankees.

As well as our visual assessment of a players contribution to a game, we use primarily the good old fashioned standard statistics (batting average, home runs, RBIs, ERA, Wins and losses, saves), rather than a system of sabermetrics.

This is the second season that Baseballreference.com have selected Jazz Chisholm in their top and he hasn’t made ours. David Bednar (who was only with the Yankees for the second half of the season), the exceptional Tim Hill. and Paul Goldschmidt who had a great first half, are on our list and not Baseball reference.com’s. I think we got it right.

Our 2023 Yankees player of the year was Gerrit Cole. That title for 2024 moved to Aaron Judge who was our 2024 Yankees player of the year. He retains it for 2025. He also took the award for 2022.
