Pitching was going to be the Yankees strength this season. That was the theory. And then Michael Pineda went on the disabled list and then to the 60-day DL. Now one pitcher who ends up out of action before he starts (Pedro Feliciano) might be unfortunate but when it happens on consecutive seasons then the alarm bells start to ring. How did the rest do….?
April was a very straightforward month for the Yankees. There was still that lingering sensation that they had coasted through Spring Training and that too much was being taken for granted and assumed. May was to be wake up time but for now let’s look back at April and see what was going right….. and wrong.

The Yankees came out of Spring training with pretty much the roster you would have predicted if you’d have sat down with pencil and scrap paper and roughed it out before they began.
And there’s something worrying about that……
And so the era of Simon Grayson’s management of Leeds United has passed and is now but a moment in history. Nothing surprising there but what has surprised is the way in which the appointment of Neil Warnock has seemingly, just for a moment, quietened the doubts of Leeds fans. His every word is rested upon and it seems he is indeed the Messiah or at least Moses come again, to lead us to the Promised Land of the Premiership.
