They do say that bad luck comes in threes and the Yankees have now lost three of their starting pitchers for the next few weeks.
As previously reported, Ivan Nova is done for the season and Michael Pineda is out for four weeks.
Now staff ace CC Sabathia is on the disabled list with fluid and inflammation on his right knee. Both Sabathia and his manager, Joe Girardi are hopeful that he will only be out for the 15 days that he is on the list but I have a sneaky feeling this could go on for longer. Either way, this is not good news and leaves the Yankees with a real problem in their rotation.
They are already managing with two pitchers, Vidal Nuno and David Phelps, who are struggling to make the end of the fifth inning and now must find a third. Adam Warren and Alfredo Aceves are possibilities but I wouldn’t rule out the team taking a chance on someone from the minors or even from outside the organisation. Let’s see what happens….
