(up to and including 28th March)
The Yankees have had a good spring training, carrying a 17-12 record into the last few days before the regular season started. In fact, because of the strong performances many of the roster issues sorted themselves and there were few injury concerns to require the roster to be patched.
Here’s a survey of the players who made it through and how they performed in the springtime:
When: March 16th 2014
Where: The Suffolk Punch, Fulham Palace Road, London
The last time I caught up with Perkelt, they were a six-piece band, all from the Czech Republic and dressed in Mediaeval outfits. Now they are a three-piece and their appearance is Gothic but more in the Camden town sense than in any attempted historical reproduction.
In February, I performed at Ravenscourt Arts Theatre in an event called “A Gospel Night”. Also on the bill were Dimitri McIntosh, Mick Chwedziak and the Ravenscourt Arts Choir.
The Yankees made a pretty good start to Spring Training with two wins and two losses in the four games they played before the end of February:
25/2 Win vs Florida State University Seminoles 8-3
26/2 Loss vs Pittsburgh Pirates 5-6
27/2 Loss vs Pittsburgh Pirates 2-8
28/2 Win vs Detroit Tigers 7-4
The Yankees had a busy month in January and they managed to fill most of the most obvious gaps on their roster.
Thank you to everyone who visits and supports this site. We now get more visitors per day than ever before. We get twice as many visitors per day just reading old stuff as we used to get on the old site on a day when a new article went up.
So a couple of weeks into the New Year, what seems to be likely to appear here in 2014 and what else will I be involved in?
And then to the fourth and final part of this survey with our overview of the men who might take the mound for the Yankees in 2014. Again, some old favourites, some trying to enhance their reputation and some new arrivals………
And so we come to the third part of our survey and the offensive players who are currently on the 40-man roster……. those who have stayed, those who have arrived and those we might meet for the first time:
